Dear Mayor Atchison:

I am writing regarding the Royal Canadian Legion Hall located at 315 19th Street East and the city's efforts a year or so ago to establish a veterans museum there.

City Council, on April 5, 2004, passed the following motion:

"that the Mayor contact each Veterans' Association in the City, and request that they meet with him to discuss the possibility of creating a veterans museum within the existing downtown Legion building."

Although the motion did not ask you to formally report back to City Council I was wondering what was the date you met with the Legion and what were the specific details of the proposal or arrangement that the city made to them?

It is unclear what the city specifically had in mind and was prepared to offer.

Media reports suggest that the city made a pitch to the Legion but did not hear back from them. If this is accurate did the city follow-up and try again? If not, could you please comment why?

Thank you very much for taking the time to receive my correspondence. I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

Joe Kuchta
